If you want to keep movies in all their 1080p surround sound glory, you need huge rips to keep all that quality, and in that case, maybe it makes sense to save your time worrying about Handbrake settings, and just rip losslessly using MakeMKV (or just watch the Blu-Ray).ġ080p is mathematically double the pixels and therefore double the size of 720p, and IMO, the difference is usually not worth anything near double the file size.
